Students will observe a variety of patient interactions and care pathways in relation to the bladder and kidneys. This busy outpatient department includes new patient referrals and follow ups. Daily treatment processes and procedures and interaction with the urology ward, cancer nurse specialists, consultant clinics and decontamination processes. We have an interesting environment with friendly, enthusiastic staff who enjoy sharing their speciality with students. The department has an excellent reputation and our patients give us excellent feedback. This is a great placement if you are interested in a career in medicine, nursing or the health service generally.
Please be aware of the following:
• Patients may be undressed and some anatomy exposed e.g. genitalia
• There may be palliative and unwell patients with terminal illnesses.
The timetable is adapted to specific interests wherever possible. **Hours 0830-1630 or 0900-1700.
Applicants are encouraged to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
You will be required to attend an induction session before your placement, we will book you onto a session in line with your placement start date.

Smart dress. Flat comfortable shoes. Bare below the elbows. Long hair tied back and only one set of stud earrings, no other jewellery. Applicants must follow the specific dress code and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of the placement.
This placement is for 2 days only.
Due to the demand for work experience placements, all work experience applicants must be Nottinghamshire residents or attend full-time education in Nottinghamshire. Applicants must attend an induction before they can attend the placement.
If you are successful, we can only co-ordinate one placement per person, per calendar year, through the directory of placements. This is due to the demand for placements.
