The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are an early intervention service which is school based. We work in schools to support young people with their mental health on an individual basis. We also facilitate groups and workshops.
Within school we deliver groups and workshops to young people, facilitate workshops for school staff and we also facilitate groups and workshops for parents. Our team comprises of Educational Mental Health Practitioners, CBT Therapists and Specialist Practitioners. This placement can offer time with a Specialist Practitioner to get observational experience supporting young people with their mental health, via 1:1 intervention within secondary schools. You will also be able to go gain insight into the MHST service, how referrals are processed and how the MHST links with other CAMHS teams and other services to support young people.

Instructions for the first day will be discussed and agreed prior to the placement day as it will be dependant on what the practitioner has in their diary.

8.30 am - 4.30 pm Monday to Friday
You will need to be dressed in smart casual clothing and appropriately for a school setting. Anything observed within the work experience will be confidential and no young people who will be observed will be discussed outside of the work experience placement. You must be able to travel to the location of the practitioners appointments as transport is not provided and appointments may be at different locations.
This work experience offer is specifically for individuals aged 18 and over, with an up-to-date DBS check in place.
