Clinical

This opportunity is for people with an interest in clinical research; you do not need to have a science or clinical background, but an interest in learning how research takes place in the NHS and how people can take part in it.

The role is based within the Research Education and Impact team, which covers a range of support services for clinical research including Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Communications and Public and Patient Involvement. This role will include the following areas of our work:

• Supporting the Mobile Research Unit. This Unit operates as a research clinic on wheels and travels to locations around the Nottingham area to enable people to take part in our research, without needing to come to our hospitals. As a volunteer, you will meet and greet people coming to the Unit:
• Talking to people about our research and how they can find out more
• Supporting the onboard research teams so that taking part in research is a smooth, efficient and positive experience for everyone
• Helping people to give their feedback on their experience

When the Unit is not in use, then you will do the same duties in one of our research clinical locations in our hospitals. At the end of the work experience, there will be an opportunity to continue to act as a Research Volunteer undertaking the same duties.

In addition to supporting the Mobile Research Unit, you will be able to choose from sessions which include:

• Seeing our research in action by joining research teams as they deliver clinical trials for our patients
• Learn practical skills about research communications, marketing and involving the public in what we do
• Understand more about the different roles and professions that make up our research workforce, which we will try and match with your own interests or studies

Applications are currently closed and would be reopened in the summer to commence in the Autumn.
