This placement is within a hospice and students will observe certain areas of this emotionally challenging and potentially distressing area of work. Students will have an opportunity to shadow staff on the inpatient unit and in the outpatient setting. The placement is usually Monday to Friday 8am-4pm but may vary depending on the workload and staff availability to support the placement. Some days may be shorter than others. The programme may change at short notice depending on the team’s clinical commitments and will include shadowing reception.

Students must wish to work in palliative care (end of life).

Applicants are encouraged to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

You will be required to attend an induction session before your placement, we will book you onto a session in line with your placement start date.

Flat comfortable shoes. Bare below the elbows. Long hair tied back and only one set of stud earrings, no other jewellery.

Applicants must follow the specific dress code and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of the placement.



Students must wish to work in palliative care (end of life).

All observations are subject to patients' consent and the Trust's Safeguarding policies.

Due to the demand for work experience placements, all work experience applicants must be Nottinghamshire residents or attend full-time education in Nottinghamshire. Applicants must attend an induction before they can attend the placement.

If you are successful, we can only co-ordinate one placement per person, per academic year, through the directory of placements. This is due to the demand for placements.
