The Adult Speech and Language Therapy team sees patients on the wards at King’s Mill Hospital and at home as part of a specialist Stroke service. We manage patient’s communication and swallowing impairments whilst they are in the hospital. We see patients on all wards including Stroke and intensive care. Shadowees will have the opportunity to observe assessment/ therapy/clinical administrative duties and the opportunity to learn about our daily roles. This placement is half a day, 9am-12pm.
This placement is only for individuals who require a visit to an SLT department as part of their UCAS application for entry onto an undergraduate course in SLT.
Applicants are encouraged to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Smart dress. Flat comfortable shoes. Bare below the elbows. Long hair tied back and only one set of stud earrings, no other jewellery. Applicants must follow the specific dress code and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of the placement.
Due to the demand for work experience placements, all work experience applicants must be Nottinghamshire residents or attend full-time education in Nottinghamshire.

If you are successful, we can only co-ordinate one placement per person, per academic year, through the directory of placements. This is due to the demand for placements.
